New Director of Music Joins St. Bart's in August

Posted by The Rev. Mark McKone-Sweet on

John-Luke Addison, Director of Music and Principal Organist

Our prayers have been answered. We have extended a call to John-Luke Addison. I received a unanimous recommendation from the search committee and an affirmation by the entire vestry/officers earlier this week. John-Luke has since accepted the call to join us in ministry. John-Luke will begin his ministry on August 1, 2018, for the program year.

John-Luke is a Canadian pianist, conductor, music director, accompanist, organist, and composer. He has been Director of Music at St. Anne’s Anglican Church in Toronto for the past 4 years, conductor of Chorus Niagara along with several other ensembles, and has had compositions performed internationally, including by the Canadian Opera Company and San Francisco Opera Company. He has a graduate degree in Music from York University in Toronto (specializing in piano performance and composition) and has also been the music director for about 50 theatrical productions in Canada, both professional and amateur.

John-Luke looks forward to his upcoming ministry at St. Bartholomew’s; meeting new people and establishing new relationships. He moves here with his fiancée, Michelle, and border collie, Slade, and they look forward to this new adventure and chapter in their lives.

Please continue to pray for John-Luke and Michelle and as they prepare for their move. We also ask for prayers for Nathan Costa as he begins his transition to his next chapter. Please be sure to mark your calendars for June 24 and 25 as we will be celebrating Nathan’s ministry on these days.

Finally, the search committee - Father Mark, Dan Crane, David Goff, Patricia Johnston, Lisa McAfee, Tim McLellan, Janice Miller and Mary Spencer - extends their thanks for your prayers and support during this time.

Faithfully yours,

Father Mark
