St. Bart's Youth Respond to Matthew 25

Posted by The Rev. Mary Lynn Coulson on

Jesus said: “I was hungry, and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me. Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.”

During Youth CREW on Christ the King Sunday, St. Bart's Youth reflected on the gospel - Matthew 25:31-46. Our very aware youth shared these lines as inspired by the Gospel of Matthew.

I was tired, and you gave me coffee.

I was bullied, and you were my friend.

I was sad, and you made me laugh.

I was in the dark, and you gave me light.

I was cold, and you gave me your jacket.

I was sitting alone in the lunch room, and you sat with me.

I was empty, and you filled me.

I was crying, and you wiped my tears.

I was angry, and you calmed me.

I was lost, and you showed me the way.

I was depressed, and you reached out.

I was lonely, and you called me on the phone.

I was asking for money on the street, and you prayed for me.

I was doubtful, and you gave me confidence.

I was lost, and you guided me.

I was voiceless, and you spoke out for me.

I was new at school, and you talked to me.

I was struggling, and you held me.

I was arrogant, and you humbled me.

I was upset, and you listened to me.

I was failing, and you tutored me.

Youth CREW (Continually Riding the Eternal Wave) is for middle and high school students. Youth meet Wednesdays 6-8 p.m. for fellowship and fun and also on Sundays at 9 a.m. between services, allowing families to worship together.
